Smitten Kitten Sphynx
Our Story
As a child I always loved cats. I never remember not having a cat. I had multiples of the same cat when I was a young child. If I cared about my disappeared cat my parents would do a look alike replacement. I had several Bowboys. We moved to the country when I was about 12. I would find stray cats and bring them home without telling my mother. I would bring them in put them on the deck introduce them to the food, water, and cat bed area. They was all outside pets. We had an outside cat house for them in the winter when it was cold. I think at one point we had over twenty outside cats. I think it was evident I loved kitties from a young age they was very relevant in my life.
I am married as of twelve and a half years. We have three children two are grown adults and we did IVF and had our 4 month old miracle child. Our nephew is 14 and has been with us for 3.5yrs now. I have three children and our nephew lives with us. Were involved parents our oldest daughter is a senior in college. She is a cheerleader and we go to the games. Our son has a 3 month old daughter and lives across the street from us with his little family. I enjoy my granddaughter being right across the street and we love spending time with her. Our nephew is a busy freshmen this year he plays in soccer, cross country, track, FCA, band, and student council. Needless to say our plate is full all the time were on the go.
My husband drives a semi truck and I do tax preparation along with owning and running Smitten Kitten Sphynx. Most importantly were family folks first and our cats are very much apart of our family. They live in our house with us as family members. Yes, they sleep in our beds with us last night we had four in our bed. I am a daughter, wife, mother, aunt, cat lady, tax preparer, gastric bypass warrior, and a business woman.
About eight years ago my dad got hit by a semi. He was in the hospital for three months, on a vent, broke 12 bones, and had nowhere to go. We moved my dad in with us. He had months and months of rehab learning how to swallow even let alone how to walk. I was researching hairless cats for quite sometime by now. I was reading about them being great healing therapeutical animals. I reached out to a breeder which happened to be about 45 minutes away from me. What was the odds there was a breeder that was so close. She allowed us to come and reserve our baby to pick him out and we done just that. We waited as it seemed like eternity for our baby to come home. The wait was over and our boy Mr. Jynx was our first sphynx cat. I bought him as a pet. I knew within a month of having him this what I wanted to do. I wanted other people to feel the excitement and joy that we felt obtaining our sphynx. I then contacted my breeder and bought his breeding rights and that is how Smitten Kitten Sphynx started.
